Nick Watkin and Simon Cleminson founded Reading Festival in 1994 as a three-day event to celebrate their love of the music scene in their hometown of Reading. It is an annual music festival held in Reading, England.
The festival has grown over the years to include many different areas including food stalls. Markets and craft workshops. Families can enjoy some fun activities together such as face painting and balloon modelling while listening to live bands on stages throughout Reading town centre on the first day of the festival. Known as Family Day. On average there are around 30 live acts performing at Reading Festival each year!
The Leakey Family Foundation Gala Concert
The Leakey Family Foundation Gala Concert is a charity concert that takes place in Reading at the Reading Festival site. The show has been running since 1996, and it’s arguably one of the biggest events in town during that time. This year’s event will be held on July 7th at 6:30 pm. With tickets costing £8 per person or £15 for two.
Great British Beer Festival
The Great British Beer Festival is a celebration of craft beer, cask ale and over 100 other types of real ales. It’s been running since 2007 and has become something of an annual event for people in Reading and beyond.
The festival takes place over three days at Earls Court each October. With hundreds of beers from around the UK on offer. Tickets can be purchased online or from your local brewery so you’ll know exactly what to expect when attending this event!

Flourish Arts Festival
The Flourish Arts Festival is a festival celebrating the arts in Reading. It’s held every year in the summer and features performances, workshops and exhibitions.
The Flourish Arts Festival was founded in 1996 by volunteers who wanted to make their community more creative through creative events that bring people together for fun and enjoyment of local culture. The festival offers an opportunity for residents of all ages to enjoy themselves as they explore new ideas through art activities such as painting murals or creating mosaics. Reading Jazz & Blues Festival
The Reading Jazz & Blues Festival is held in September, on the first weekend of that month. It’s a small festival with a wide variety of acts and entertainment. Including food vendors and artists’ performances. In addition to jazz and blues music being performed by performers such as Terence Blanchard, Cornell Dupree, Eric Alexander (formerly of The Crusaders), Joe Lovano Trio and more!
The festival is located at Locust Grove Park in Reading Township (just north of Philadelphia) where you can enjoy some amazing food while listening to great live music from local musicians!
The Big Chill in the Park
The Big Chill in the Park is a great event for all ages. It’s a family-friendly event. But it’s also one of the best free events in Reading.
The Big Chill in the Park takes place every year on July 4th at Memorial Park on 10th Street and Hopewell Avenue. The festival features live music, children’s games and entertainment. Food vendors and activities such as face painting or balloon animals. This year’s lineup includes:
